Our “Five Bears Cabin” is actually a cluster of three buildings connected by an expansive deck that add up to what our family considers a very special mountain getaway.
Our cabin is located at the end of a private, shared driveway, off of a cul-de-sac in Blue Lake Springs.
The property backs up to the Stanislaus National Forest.
Inside the main building, you will find a cozy, traditional, wood-paneled cabin.
Aficionados of the small house / tiny house movement will appreciate how the cabin efficiently packs 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a den into its 864 square feet.
The master bedroom has a Queen bed and it’s own bathroom.
The second bedroom has a Queen-over-Queen bunk bed.
There is also a comfortable Queen sleeper sofa in the living room.
But sometimes people need their separate space, so we added two 10′ x 12′ structures to the property. If you are interested in modern, prefab design and construction, you will have fun using these Modern Sheds (modern-shed.com).
One is stocked with games and puzzles; we call it the Lounge. It’s a great space for reading, playing games, socializing or watching a show on your mobile device.
We call the other the Studio; it has tables, chairs, exercise mats, a large mirror and an art easel. It’s an ideal separate space to bring your laptop (or homework) and work in solitude. It’s also a fun place to exercise, paint and draw.
Please note that our property is NOT for you if you are looking for the most up-to-date kitchen, or if you are looking for huge interior spaces.
Rest assured that there are a lot of vacation rental home options available for you if this is what you prefer. Our property IS for you if you want a small, traditional cabin with the unique twist of added separate structures, all in a beautiful setting.

Hopefully you will be able to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area during your stay. But if you must stay in touch with the modern world, we have free, unlimited local and long-distance telephone, internet and WiFi (with access through Roku to Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+, YouTubeTV, Spotify, Pandora, etc.).

With respect to linens, we believe that the best policy is for our guests to bring their own bedding and towels. This keeps costs lower for our guests (no linen fee or extra housekeeping charge) and also ensures that our guests’ linens are truly clean.
For your convenience, we strive to keep the following supplies stocked: paper towels, toilet paper, tissue, garbage bags, dishwashing soap, clothes washer detergent, liquid hand soap for sinks, liquid body wash for showers, shampoo, conditioner, hand/body lotion, blue sponges (for cleaning dishes), green/yellow sponges (for other cleaning), cleaning supplies, bathroom spray, tea, coffee (regular & decaf), granulated sugar, powdered sugar, brown sugar, flour, salt, pepper, cooking oil, charcoal briquettes, lighter fluid and replacement batteries. We ask for your understanding if we are running low or out of certain of these supplies during your stay. If you use the last of an item and have a chance to replace it, we would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, please let us know so that we can restock.
We require several days to coordinate cleaning with our housekeeper and make rental contract arrangements so please only inquire if there are at least 2 days before your intended arrival date. We allow up to 6 guests, with a maximum of 4 adults. Please, no pets and no smoking.
For anyone still reading this description, I am including a poem written by our son, Ryan (when he was 12):
FAVORITE PLACE POEM
Everyone has a special place
Where you can relax
And enjoy the scenery
As for me
Mine
Is a mountain house
With an abundance of activities
From swimming in the summer
To skiing in the winter
You can still sit down and relax
With leaves to play in
And flowers to pick, you will never
Run out of fun
When you wake up
You can still smell
The forestry pine scent coming
In the distance
Then you can still remember
That this
is my mountain house
